- 'Summer Body' ORIGINAL PAINTING by Marta Hutt
Description:
Two beautiful women seeing each other's beauty but not seeing their own. Being big on the outside but feeling small inside. They see beauty in another big person while feeling shame, lazy, weak and cumbersome about herself.
Despite their outward magnificence, both women struggle with feelings of inadequacy. While they can see the grandeur in each other, they find it difficult to recognize their own worth.
The background of lush hydrangeas serves as a powerful symbol of gratitude, grace, and beauty. The abundance of flowers and their generous round shape reflect the richness of each woman's spirit, despite their inner battles.
Through this painting, I aim to challenge the societal judgments based on physical appearance, gender, sexuality, and ability. The tender exchange of gazes between these two women invites viewers to reconsider narrow standards and embrace the inherent worth and dignity within themselves and others. It's a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of empathy and self-acceptance.
“By better understanding the effect that such influences have, the hope is that people can develop a healthier and more realistic relationship with their bodies.”
