If you could capture an essence of summer in décor - which elements spring to your mind...?

This weekend on the home tour with ART IN THE WORLD OF INTERIORS I’m taking you to South London. Today we are visiting a home with a décor that instantly makes me think of summer. Bright and sunny colours, bold patterns, a pinch of gold and a maximalist décor creates a very feminine and welcoming atmosphere.

What inspires you when decorating your home and what has drawn you to your style?

Colours, patterns, textures, shapes, everything that catches my eyes.

Would you like to share a few tips on how you choose art for your home?

My daughter really enjoys artwork, prints etc and although we have very similar tastes, it’s always nice to see what she will show me.

Do you choose art to go with your home décor or other way round?

It depends, if there is a piece I absolutely love and feel I need to have I’ll have to make it work somehow. Other times, I will look for a piece to complete a space that is already decorated.

How do you arrange your wall galleries?

I normally start doing some sort of “draft” on the floor to see how I can arrange the frames together. I then ask my daughter to assist me by holding the frames up on the wall, while I check whether it’s all coming together well. She now greatly exaggerates, that she’s developed one rather disproportionately muscular arm thanks to the time spent holding frames!

How do you choose a frame for the art and where do you get your frames?

I purchase my frames from TK Maxx, IKEA and eBay. I like to base my choice for the frame on the actual artwork, the wall colour/paper.

Any other tips when it comes to styling art in interiors?

I think styling art in interiors is so fun, it is great to play around with the artwork, frames and the background. Once you feel like it’s right, it’s great seeing it all tie a room together!
